Spring 2020 Session Deadlines

Monday, September 16 (2019)Recommended spring priority application deadline for graduate degree-seeking applicants to have all admission materials received by the Graduate College. In order to receive full consideration for spring admission, all applications must be complete and submitted to the Graduate College prior to the spring application deadline established by the individual graduate program.
Tuesday, October 1 (2019)Recommended last day to submit 2019-2020 FAFSA/FAFSA renewal for Spring 2020 financial aid (if you have not already done so) in order to have aid available to pay spring semester fees.
Tuesday, October 1 (2019)Spring scholarship deadline. Last day to have all admission materials received in Admissions for new freshman and transfer students who want to be considered for scholarships for Spring 2020. The 2019-2020 FAFSA must be filed by this date to be considered for need-based scholarships.
Tuesday, October 1 (2019)Spring 2020 on-campus housing application available at noon for residence halls.
Tuesday, October 15 (2019)Priority date for international student application materials to be received by International Admissions for spring semester consideration.
Monday, November 4 (2019)Registration for continuing students begins for Spring 2020 (by appointment).
Friday, November 15 (2019)Standard application deadline for undergraduate, degree-seeking applicants to have all admission materials received by Admissions. Applicants who miss this application deadline will be considered for degree-seeking status on a space-available basis. Students who are not eligible for degree-seeking admission may be considered for nondegree-seeking status and are ineligible for financial aid.
Tuesday, November 19 (2019)Last day to submit Application for Admission to Candidacy form to the Graduate College for graduate degrees and certificates to be awarded in May 2020.
Sunday, December 1 (2019)Deadline for first-time, degree-seeking, domestic undergraduate students who plan to enroll to submit online Intent to Enroll form and accompanying $100.00 enrollment confirmation.
Monday, December 30 (2019)Recommended date to finalize student course schedules for Spring 2020 for financial aid purposes.
Monday, January 6University, college, and department activities for faculty begin this week.
Saturday, January 11Residence halls check-in for new residents begins at noon.
Monday, January 13Course instruction begins.
Friday, January 17Weekend courses begin.
Friday, January 17Last day faculty may submit drops for nonattendance during the first week of the semester to the Registrar’s Office.
Friday, January 17Last day to apply for graduation for graduate and undergraduate degrees and certificates to be awarded in May 2020. Late applications will be accepted but a late fee will be assessed. Students apply for graduation on myBoiseState.

Monday, January 27Last day for students living on campus to change residential meal plans.
Monday, January 27Spring financial aid census date. Pell Grant eligibility determined by number of credits registered on this date.
Monday, January 27Last day to add graduate dissertation, thesis, project, or portfolio credit.
Monday, January 27Last day to submit Idaho Residency Determination Worksheet with documentation to Registrar’s Office to declare Idaho residency for Spring 2020 consideration.
Monday, February 17Presidents’ Day (No classes. University offices closed.)
Friday, February 20Last day to add undergraduate internship and independent study.
Friday, February 20Last day to add graduate assessment (master's preliminary examination, doctoral preliminary examination, thesis proposal, dissertation proposal, master's comprehensive examination, doctoral comprehensive examination), directed research, independent study, internship/practicum, or reading and conference.
Friday, March 13Recommended last day for final oral dissertation, thesis, or project defense for graduate degrees to be awarded in May 2020.
Sunday, March 20Last day for students who received a thesis or dissertation enrollment waiver to submit final version of thesis or dissertation to the Graduate College.
Sunday, March 20Last day to submit advisor-approved version of dissertation or thesis with signed Final Reading Approval, Access Agreement for a Thesis or Dissertation, and Thesis/Dissertation Checklist to the Graduate College for degrees to be awarded in May 2020.
Monday–Friday, March 23–27Spring Break (No Classes. University offices open March 23-27.)
Friday, May 1Course instruction ends.
Friday, May 1Last day to submit final version of dissertation or thesis to the Graduate College for graduate degrees to be awarded in May 2020.
Sunday, May 3Weekend courses end.
Monday–Friday, May 4–8Final semester examinations for the Regular session. Exam schedule listed on the Registrar’s Office website.
Friday, May 8Last day to submit an advisor-approved copy of thesis or dissertation, along with signed Final Reading Approval, Access Agreement for a Thesis or Dissertation, and Thesis/Dissertation Checklist forms, to the Graduate College to receive a thesis or dissertation enrollment waiver for the subsequent semester.
Saturday, May 9Residence halls, suites, and townhomes close at noon.
Saturday, May 9Commencement (Morning ceremony 9:30 a.m., and afternoon ceremony 3:30 p.m.)
